We had a busy, awesome week of learning!
Thank you to Kate’s mom for yummy donuts for her birthday treat! It was really a donut day! Dates and things to remember: --February 13th will be our Valentine Day. Please help your child bring in 20 valentines --Thank you to those who returned the form for your child to participate in Tech Night next Thursday. The class was excited to learn about it! If you can come and see all the awesome technology your child is using in class, please allow your child to demonstrate in the classroom. --Library on Monday-please return books --Winter break February 20-24- no school Standards to learn next week: Math: two step word problems/addition and subtraction Reading: retelling folktales and fairy tales; how do the characters feel? Writing: apply our opinion writing to fables and fairy tales Language: Phonics-unit 30 (suffixes) don’t forget all units of spelling can be seen and practiced from www.spellingcity.com Go to the Tritt website, second grade to find it easily. Social Studies: Georgia Hero: Martin Luther King Jr. STEM: We began to imagine and plan a new project Science: Sun, Moon, Stars, and shadows In the TTF’s Science Lab this month Mr. Giunta has been working with our students on the orbit of the sun. They built shadow trackers with card stock and used the Skyview App to record the sun’s movement throughout the day. Next week we’ll graph our data before we get started on the phases of the moon.
