We had a busy, awesome week of learning!
Wow! In addition to learning, we saw and participated in awesome Falcons comradery! The class decorated the door wonderfully. Our hallway was awesome with red, white, and black streamers, balloons and signs put there by terrific teachers in our hallway. The school wore red, black and white all week to show Falcons support. RISE UP! GO FALCONS! Dates and things to remember: February 13th will be our Valentine Day. Please help your child bring in 20-21 valentines. They can bring in a cereal size box to decorate in class, or they can bring one already decorated. Library on Monday-please return books Standards to learn next week: Math: one step word problems/addition and subtraction Reading: retelling folktales and fairy tales; what is the moral? Writing: apply our opinion writing to fables and fairy tales Language: Phonics-unit 28 (prefixes) don’t forget all units of spelling can be seen and practiced from www.spellingcity.com Go to the Tritt website, second grade to find it easily. Social Studies: Georgia Hero: Martin Luther King Jr. STEM: We began to imagine and plan a new project Science: Sun, Moon, Stars In the TTF’s Science Lab this month Mr. Giunta has been working with our students on the orbit of the sun. They built shadow trackers with card stock and used the Skyview App to record the sun’s movement throughout the day. Next week we’ll graph our data before we get started on the phases of the moon.
